Yes, it's better to go with a package, especially with Comcast. You'll end up with around 20% off the separate price on each product by going with the package.

We're in the midst of changing our services, but as of the last bill we have the Triple Play package with 30 Mbps download speeds, around 200 channels (family package for the kids' shows plus a couple of premiums) and home phone, which runs about $130 per month by the time you figure in the $10 per cable box, taxes and fees.

I have DirecTV because of Sunday Ticket. I'm not under a 2 year contract anymore, and my bill is right around $93/mo (2 TVs with HD DVRs, all channels except for premium movies like HBO, Showtime, etc.). For internet, I have comcast 20mbps, and currently pay $29/mo, but that will go up to $39/mo next month (speedtest.net shows 25mbps down and 5-11mbps up). I have no need for a home phone.

I could shop around and get Dish, or cancel DirecTV and have my wife sign up for it for a new promo, but I'm waiting until we move.

From a picture quality standpoint, I prefer DirecTV over Comcast. On the other hand, though, during very heavy storms, my satellite will occasionally go out, but it doesn't happen all that often actually (a couple of times a year that I'm trying to watch something).

id be not needing the kids channells and the sports i watch are mostly irish and uk. and i can stream them LEGALY. LOL
im currently in ireland .. but its a huge problem for big networks such as sky sports and the premium channels cause of mass downloading .and live streams ... hence then again . ive always taught with the size of the potencial markets in the usa there should be a company that want to go in for the kill on a price drop and get more people turned in to there services .. but from what im seeing theres not that much of a price difference in services such as 30 mg net etc. on most networks .
interesting article from a british link but im sure its relevant to you guys there with nfl etc.
Is Internet Streaming Killing Sport? Or is it just the lawyers? « Untold Arsenal: Arsenal News, supporting the club, the players and the manager
also some boxing fights were from up to last year a massive 24 euros to watch on some channels crazy

The basic package for Comcast has 80 channels, mostly your major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX) along with your news channels and some "extras" such as Lifetime, History International, VH1, and the like.

Here's a link to the channel lineup on Comcast

I couldn't tell you anything about the Satellite Networks, as I've never shopped any of them. We go with cable mainly because I work from home and have to have a good internet connection, and no other ISP is as reliable as cable.

your best bet is to check out each of their websites and see what kind of prices you can get. the deals change often, so what one person says they got may not be the exact price you get.
