I have 3 old coffee cans full of old coins from mother/grandmother and would like to find a somewhat honest collector to see the coins value.

Go to A-Coin on St Augustine Rd. They've been around a long time.

Or, you could look at coinflation.com to get some values there.

I really can't answer the question in the thread, but I do know that quarters from 1932-1964 are worth roughly $4-$6 each as they are composed of 90% silver.

Go at LEAST 2 places.

Values vary widely depending upon how much effort the buyer wants to put into selling them & if they have buyers lined up.

Figure that whatever you have is in the worst listed condition (since it's in a coffee can).

If it's worth less than 1.5-2 times face value (assuming you're talking about a couple of hundred dollars or so) - spend it. Or save things like silver dollars for "old time's sake".

If you're talking about anything worth $$$$ - get a reputable selling assistant on Ebay.

We had to dispose of approximately 5000 coins belonging to my late FIL. I never got to the point where I could call the people in JAX crooks. They were just pretty much located in lousy areas - and refused to come to my house to appraise what I had (which eventually sold for about $5k on Ebay - the seller's assistant was great). Like I wanted to fill up the trunk of my car with coins .

FWIW - this is a low income town. I'd never sell anything worth anything or collectible here (buyers here just always figure you're some poor schnook). Perhaps a piece of lawn equipment on Ebay for local pickup. That's about it.

Note that I've sold a fair amount of stuff on Ebay - also one piece at Christie's as well. Robyn

Trading Assistant Program on eBay

It's easy to sell most things on Ebay - but coins are tricky because of grading issues. Especially if you don't know anything about grading coins - and have a large number of coins. Robyn
