I was at the Gainesville store in June and spoke to one of the employees there. He said the plan was to open one in Jacksonville in 2014.

It looks like this is moving forward. That would be fabulous.

Trader Joes seems more useful as a totem of arrival for would be trendies and civic boosters than as a store, it's no big deal and not much more than an fashionable 7-11 (but without the good hot coffee).

Trader Joe's is usually at the top of lists for grocery stores in terms of sales per sq foot of space and in customer service surveys. I'm not cult like some are about the place, but I can recognize that it is a good thing to have in JAX.

They also pay a good wage to their employees which helps too

Have you shopped there a lot? I've only been to one (in Arizona - where my brother lives) - and I really liked it. "The more the merrier" IMO . Robyn

On ocassion, there was one a couple of blocks away from my apartment in Chicago. Nothing special; nothing I couldn't get better and/or cheaper at a good neighborhood grocery. Or at GFS.
