Which areas are close to UNF (15-20 minutes) and SAFE - I've read many threads stating that the Southside of jax is the safest- can someone give me street names, neighborhood names and zip codes to research?

also, can I have zips and a general description (landmarks to go by) of the bad areas you would recommend I NOT rent in?

Much much appreciated!!!!

anything right near the school is ok, look on kernan, hodges, or going in the other direction there are nice places near the SJTC or tinsletown, a bit further south is baymeadows.
If proximity is important look along Kernan, south of beach blvd

Zip codes would be: 32246, 32224, 32225

For neighborhood names and street names, are you looking to rent a house, a condo, or an apartment?

You might find a smaller house to rent in Sutton Lakes. Sutton Lakes is just north of UNF, behind FCCJ. The neighborhood's main entrance is on Atlantic Blvd, between St. John's Bluff Road and Kernan Road, near the Walmart. It is a HUGE development with amenities (multiple community pools, I'm not sure what else). It's very convenient, safe, and very close to UNF. The zip for Sutton Lakes is 32246.

There are a lot of neighborhoods in the immediate area - all along this stretch of Atlantic Blvd, Kernan Road & Beach Blvd. You can probably find a house rental in any of them (all fairly new developments too). Sutton Lakes just happens to have many since its' so big. I've seen their house rental listings and they're usually very reasonable.

For apartments, I'd head over to Hodges Road or San Pablo Road - these 2 spots have a lot of nice looking apartments. You'll also find a few on Atlantic Blvd, and some new condos on Beach Blvd. But Hodges and San Pablo you can just drive up and down that small stretch and find plenty to choose from. Sorry, I don't have specific names for you, they tend not to stick in the memory bank .
