FWIW - is it necessary to have a smart phone to use these transportation options? Don't have one now (I like to be "out of touch" when not at home - but can get and use one if necessary - my house is totally "wired up" but I generally like to get away from it all when I'm on the road - but I can change if necessary - so can my father - he's pretty handy with mechanical/tech stuff - he was able to change his TVs to internet TVs this year). Yeah, to use these on-demand car-sharing apps as they are intended, it is necessary to have a smart phone. The apps need to be able to locate you and text/call you. That said, lyft did tell me that I could use my smart phone app to call a car for someone else, someplace else...so it seems possible (though less convenient) that someone else with a smart phone can help you use these apps if you don't have access to one yourself.
As for pricing...both websites display their current pricing for Jacksonville if you google for it. You'll find it to be a bit cheaper than taxis are in Jax. If you honestly can't find the pricing let me know and I'll pull up the appropriate pages for you.
