The truth, yes I have heard this many times from New Englanders... "Everything here is better than anywhere else in the US."

It's not very helpful to compare NE/SE/Midwest, etc. If you bring things down to a county level, the comparison makes sense. It seems the St. Johns county district is better than others around here and probably better than many districts in the NE.

Likewise, there are probably districts in the NE that are better than St. Johns and also plenty that are worse.

First, I'm not offended by any of this as I'm new to FL. But I'm wondering where you are coming up with statements like "This is simply the truth." Who's truth, exactly? Yours or do you have data/studies to back this up?

It's simply the truth coming from anyone that is a native New Englander

I've had similar arguments with many people from the NE and you can argue until your blue in the face with logic and data with no effect so I'll refrain from further commentary on the subject.

I don't see the correlation between "schools" as in K-12 (see OP) and the argument you are making about Colleges in the NE vs Midwest, etc.

K-12 School districts and the colleges in the same geographic area have no direct correlation in terms of quality of education that I can see.

In fact I would argue that if you are attending a college in the same area as you went to K-12, you are short-changing yourself in terms of becoming a well-rounded individual which is the point of a college education in the first place...

Edit: I was going to refrain from further comment, but I got sucked back in (facepalm)

Are you really a teacher? Scary. Can I ask what school so I can keep my kid far, far away?

Your "Harvard is better than Florida Rodeo Clown College!" statements are completely laughable. I really don't care to go tit for tat comparing school vs. school because, frankly, it is a ridiculous argument riddled with flaws. Just know that your opinions are just that....opinions. So stating one school is better, more prestigious, or produced more cultured people and claiming that's "fact" is a baseless argument and it will get you nowhere fast.

OK, then....can you go back and change all the "That's a fact" statements then, teacher? Maybe a quick refresher on the definition of a fact might help you out a bit.

Is this a blog?

This masterteacher poster sounds a lot like the fool that was in this thread a couple of days ago (who got banned), calling people "friend" and using poor capitalization techniques in his posts (which have been removed).

I'm not a "New Englander".
I'm a native Floridian (possibly the rarest species in Florida) who happens to posses the absolute most rarest element in the universe- objectivity- and yes, I totally look down on people who beclown themselves by defending their inferior (whatever) as being 'equal' because they're either too emotionally immature or intellectually stunted to accept the truth.
