Moving to Durbin Crossing in December. Two children (4 and 1.5 years). Christian based learning or public are options. Looking for consistency in ratings and extended hours.

I would recommend signing up for NextDoor and select the Durbin Crossing neighborhood. Seems to be a ton of parents there with good suggestions for just about everything. I do seem to remember several threads about preschools and VPK programs. Let me know if you need me to invite you to the site.

How does Next Door work? We are closing on our home in DC in mid-Nov and I'm trying to become more educated about the area and potential preschools (for now, my children will keep going to an excellent school in the Baymeadows area, but the daily drive will likely get old). I looked up the site just now, but it looks like you have to already be established at the address to join? Thanks!

We are in Durbin now and just starting to look for programs for our daughter for next year. Unfortunately, the area of Durbin we are in is not updated on the NextDoor site yet. Sent the email, so hopefully they will update their map soon

Fruit Cove Baptist is the current "en vogue" preschool of choice in the area. Unfortunately, there is a very long waiting list as it's very good and very popular.

I think you have to be invited (I was initially by a neighbor). Loads of good local information there and if you can get past the constant griping about meaningless things it's quite helpful. I can send you an invite, just PM me your email.

I would second this, we're on said waiting list for VPK nearly a year early.

I live right by there and had no idea their preschool was so popular. My kids went to Mandarin Presbyterian Preschool.

We were wait listed for a year before our middle one was eligible, and we made it this year. Our (now) 3 yr old is enjoying it immensely. That may not sound like a big deal, but he is extremely difficult at times and leaving him with "strangers" wasn't very much fun. He only goes a couple times a week, but often asks about it and actually looks forward to going which is huge for him.

Yeah, your opinion matches just about everyone else's.....I haven't heard a single negative about it, which is pretty rare in today's social media age.
