We visited over the holidays and really liked the JCP area and DC as well. I especially like the more established JCE, but I did notice the modules running down the side of the school. Are those classrooms? Are they temporary? How overpopulated is this school and if it is will any zoning or new schools in the future fix this issue? Any ideas on how to get this kind of information?

Durbin Creek is also an option. This elementary school seems good and would probably be as good of a fit. I do not see that DC has the indoor pool and I am really hoping to get DD into a swim club.

All the other creek elementary schools over on that side/area seem very remote to us. We don't want to live in a rural area, at least not now. Maybe those areas will grow and that will change.

Our plan is to rent for at least a couple years.

Also if you have any input on transportation with either of these elementary schools I would like to know more. I have read about kids biking to school, but how does that work if you live on the other side of Race Track Rd? Also, there are no sidewalks in many neighborhoods so does all the foot/bike traffic go to the paths? My kids will be starting 2nd grade.

A relief school will probably be built soon but I'm not sure when that's going to happen hopefully someone more informed will respond.

Renting is a good idea, we rented for one year prior to buying. Every intersection in the morning along Race Track has people who stop the traffic to let bikers and walkers cross. In certain parts there are no sidewalks on the northern side of Race Track, but on the side of JCE there's a side walk that runs down the entire residential area. Most neighborhoods I've seen have at least one side with a sidewalk that runs to Race Track.

Seems like most people drop their kids off though based on car traffic in the morning and afternoon.

I'm sure this is the same in other schools, Cunningham Creek has the same traffic guards along Roberts Road for bikers to cross intersections.

There is a new elementary school in the Durbin Crossing neighborhood (separate from Durbin Creek elementary). I don't know if there are others planned, but if the growth in St. Johns continues then no doubt they will plan to add more schools.

Where did you see the modules at JCE? Durbin Creek Elem had them but got rid of them when the new K-8 school opened back in August.

Patriot Oaks Academy is a brand new K-8 school serving Durbin Crossing. You see a lot of cars because the district doesn't provide busing if you live within 2 miles of your zoned schools. You can't go wrong with any of the schools in the area, they are all very good.

I looked at the map and perhaps that was the middle school with the modules and not JCE.
