We are looking into relocating either into the Jacksonville (Nocatee) or Boca Raton area with 2 toddlers. Any thoughts or ideas? I am aware that Boca is more expensive but the schools seem to be equally good.
We are in Florida already in a retirement town. So I guess we are looking for more family oriented areas.
Would love to hear of other people's experiences! Thanks:-)

I've been to Boca and while it's nice, it is no place I'd want to raise my family.
While the schools in Boca may seem good, the St Johns county school system
is rated #1 in the state of Florida.

The schools are not equally good. St Johns County schools are wildly superior.

Boca is an ethnocentric retirement haven. That's about it. St Johns County offers a lot, however do bear in mind that Nocatee is in the Jacksonville metroplex, even though its in SJC, so the majority of your interests may be inclined towards the nearer offerings of Duval County (which is strip mall hell) as opposed to St Johns, which, generally speaking, is a bit more upscale.

Thanks for the info. I love the idea of the Nocatee community, but is that like being "stuck" in another world or is there a lot offered for families around that area?

Micklers Landing/Ponte Vedra beach is 10-15 minutes away, St Augustine is 30-45 minutes away, St Johns Town Center is 20-30 minutes away, downtown Jacksonville is 30-45 minutes away.

I lived in St. John's county (Saint Augustine) for nearly 6 years and loved it!

Northeast Florida is not only home to some of the best beaches in Florida, but is also filled with a rich history and an abundance of outdoor activities like parks and attractions.

It's much, much less crowded than South Florida. In North Florida you can get an entire house with a yard for the same price of a decent condo in Boca. Your living expenses would also be much lower in SJC.

To be completely honest, there aren't many places in Florida that i'd rather living than St. John's County.

That being said, have fun finding a job.

It is relatively isolated, yes.

Keep in mind, Nocatee is essentuially what Palm Coast was 20 years ago. That is to say, its a large, master-planned DRI that is basically a 'thing unto itself'.

Its an affordable, totally safe, sterile-as-a-surgical-tray, upper middle class community. Good choice to raise kids.
Repeat: VASTLY superior schools in SJC compared to any of the Del Boca Vista communities down south that are full of retirees who prefer lower taxes to better schools.

That I consider quite far away ;-)

Thank you! The retirees are one of the main reasons why we are looking to move :-)
