Cleaning out my Caller ID gadget yesterday and was reminded of the phone call I received last Monday (day before voting) from our illustrious governor urging me to 'vote yes' on Amendment 1 ... and I started to think, who paid for that "Vote Yes" campaign (phone, TV and radio spots, etc.)? Taxpayers?

more than likely mccain's campaign paid for the call, with all the big bucks wasted by government, phone calls that cost pennies per thousand is almost not worth mentioning anyway

Disagree -- it IS worth mentioning -- I don't care if it cost "pennies" or not, but the fact is that if it did come out of taxpayers' pockets 1) lots of "little" things adds up to a lot and thus contribute to the problem, and 2) I'm sure the McCain campaign paid for the call, but, as I queried, who paid for 'vote yes' for Amendment 1 -- if it was taxpayer money, how do those opposed to the amendment feel about contributing to the 'yes' campaign? That's the point -- and worth asking.

it's a shame that more people aren't as passionate as you are and then focus that passion on some of the larger issues that confront us

It would be such a serious conflict of interest, I don't imagine it was taxpayer money. There was other money backing the promotion of the proposal, so that must be how it was paid for.

Then again......

We did have the infamous "Day of Prayer" here in Jacksonville paid for with our tax dollars.

You may want to check out that very issue we debated a couple of weeks ago here:

But that's not Jacksonville doing that. There's not city or state income tax here (as there is in other states).
