Nobody wants Asheville to turn into another FL. So I tried my part in trying to convince people that Asheville is not that nice. And when I saw the poster was from NY, I knew that FL would be the place for them, not Asheville.

The thing is the high crime rate in NC
Crime Index, #35

North Carolina 1,914.77
U.S. 1,696.36

The crime index value is calculated based on the data using USA.com algorithms. It is an indicator of the crime level in a region.

Florida 2,119.32

Difference of 204.55.

NC has less than 10 million people and FL has 20 million. Looks like the crime rate in NC is very high.

isnt a crime index calculated by per capita? I think it would account for the population difference.

Good to hear positive things of Florida cities. I have lived most of my life in Florida and im in my 30s. I have never been to Jacksonville. Residents from the lower half of Florida don't really consider Northern section as desirable of a place to live. It feels more like Georgia, but after reading some of these posts I want to visit. Currently in Tampa Florida...

That's quite alright, most of us rednecky north Floridians think the southern part of the state feels more like a third world Caribbean island than a part of the US mainland.
Come on up and visit the real Florida, and experience it for yourself !!!

EXACTLY! South FL is a dump, Central FL falling not too far behind anymore.

North FL or Asheville NC/Greenville SC for us in the somewhat near future.

I'd take Hendersonville, NC. over Asheville any day.

Asheville IS Florida, it's not that great. But the rest of NC is pretty good.
