I heard that Palencia's location that was previously occupied by Food Lion has been sold. The rumors are it could be Publix. Anyone else heard anything regarding this?

Please let this be true! I had heard of ongoing litigation with that location being the reason nothing else could move in. This is the second time I've heard mention of this this week, please someone verify and make my day!

I did some research and can only see that the property is off the market. I am also very interested to know if this has been sold. It would impact my real estate plans.

WOW! I sure hope this is true, it's sad we have to travel so far for a grocery store. If anyone gets confirmation, please let us know.

Winn dixie is 20 minutes away? That's not so bad. I'd gladly go to a Publix there but its not THAT bad right now.

Food Lion #2139 had a short life opening in 2008 and closing in 2012. I am not surprised it closed as Food Lion failed quickly in Florida.

The Palencia trade area is a grocery desert than should be easily served by another supermarket. If Publix has interest in a store at the location, that would be good if realized.

I'm confused about that area. It seems to be quite high end. Many homes over $300K, quite a few over $600K. There also appear to be many homes in general, most within a gated community.

How is it possible that such an affluent neighborhood is also a food desert? It's confusing.

I hope some of the real estate experts will explain this. What happened there?

I am afraid Food Lion's negative reputation and constant problems caused nearby residents to drive further to better supermarkets and various grocers. The end result is Food Lion opening store 2139 which closed as a low performing store with a long-term lease.
