Hey all,

I moved down here almost a year ago from Long Island NY & while the transition hasn't been too difficult, one thing I haven't been able to deal with is the lack of good food down here.

Does anyone know where I can get a true "diner burger" here? I'm missing that char grilled taste.

My fellow New Yorkers should feel me on that!

Thanks in advance!

If I'm craving, what I would call, a quality burger, I go to Five Guys or M Shack.

Colonel Mustard's in Jax Beach or Sharkey's in Ponte Vedra Beach. Don't dress up!

I don't entirely agree with what's listed here, but it's a decent rundown:

The Burger Wars of Jacksonville | Metro Jacksonville

For me my favorite burger ever in Jax was the burger's served by Jolly Mon at Bold City Brewery. Unfortunately he has passed and his delicious food is no more. I also had an amazing lamb burger at Uptown Kitchen and Bar (formerly Uptown Market) but it's also been not so awesome. Black Sheep gets an honorable mention.

I'll add that I like burgers but I'm not a connoisseur and I also don't really know the NYC style.

My two favorite Burger place here at the beach are Poe's Tavern at the intersection of 3rd Street and Atlantic Blvd in Atlantic Beach and Graffiti Junktion American Burger Bar located on 3rd Street and 5th Avenue North in Jax Beach.

Second on Uptown Kitchen and Bar. I love the Smash Burger. You might also check on Chomp Chomp. They serve diner only Thurs-Sat. Again, don't dress up.

Poe's is our go to as well- probably two to three times a month or so- was just there last night. I recommend The Sleeper! Very kid friendly place!
