Well, MAD DADS is still talking about how many homicides have happened this month (July) already and the total for this year so far.
The number of homicides is still in the news, so there is definitely a problem going on here that needs to be addressed. Not all of these are gang related, some are due to domestic disputes and other things.
To me, Jacksonville isn't the safest city in the U.S., but then again, some other cities in the U.S. aren't either.

Oh good grief any major city has crime, murders. Jax is huge and has a huge naval base there.

You just need to be AWARE of your surroundings.

Look at the crime in New Orleans, but yet if I could convince hubbie I'd move from Cape Coma (Coral) FL to Nola in a heartbeat.

By the way suicide/murder is horrible, but those are very personal crimes.
Had that happen 4 houses away from me in NJ, didn't make me get all willy nilly about crime.

But I like it SO MUCH!

We had a murder-suicide here in our apartment complex......and we are still living here!

BTW, if this thing wasn't that bad, why is it being talked about so much in the media?

If you trust your spouse/partner and children (in cases where they lived with you), then I don't know why you'd be worried about being a victim of a domestic dispute murder.

Domestic dispute murders may be even less random than the gang murders. It's just another case of someone being murdered by someone they know.

I guess, "oh well" that Jacksonville has had a homicide almost everyday this month. Guess, other than those who live in the areas of these murders, the rest of the population of Jacksonville really don't care about this subject.

What are you doing that constitutes "caring" about these murders that the rest of us are not? Posting about them on an anonymous message board? What would you have people do? Please enlighten us all on how we can also "care" as much as you are? Specific examples of what you are doing to thwart these murders would be great.

I'm glad if you are worried about the people they happen to and it's good to feel for them and be upset about it. I'm not expecting you to be going crazy and celebrating about it.

But the vibe that I've gotten from you and a few others, is you seem to be afraid of being a victim of one of these murders or crimes.

Maybe I need to go back and read the original post again, but not sure why someone from Buffalo even started this thread. Was this poster thinking about moving here but got scared off by the homicide rate?

Cause if the poster was not entertaining the idea of moving here, I think it's pretty lame to randomly post about the homicides here. That would be like me going over to the Detroit forum and posting about being worried about the murders there. But like I said, it's been a while since I read the beginning of this thread.

After talking to some people who tell me "as long as it's not happening in my area, I'm really not concerned about it".....guess I'll have to go with that.
