Hello folks!

I must admit I love Jacksonville and I am so glad I moved... However this is my first summer in Florida and I don't have any tints in my car... My AC in my car also just went out... Should I be scared? Everyone is telling me how hot it is .... I mean what is it like 160 F or something? Lol... It is pretty pricey to get that all done all at once so I was wondering if I could make it thru this summer? Any opinion would help me a lot. Thanks in advance!

youre gonna be hot but just roll the windows down and you'll survive. Get a sunshade too. And the actual temp will be in the 80s and 90s but because of the greenhouse effect you could be looking at the car being in the 140s when you first get in if you don't have a sunshade.

Personally i would put tinting your car high up on your things to do list. It keeps heat out, but also keeps AC in (after you fix it lol). Tint helps so much, its hard to appreciate until you have it though, impossible to really explain.

You can live without AC but it will be uncomfortable in the heat, also when its raining the inside of the car can get steamy if the windows are up. If you have to dress professionally or in a uniform for work you will show up with a sweaty back.

Getting the AC fixed will just make like easier.

Sometimes you can add coolant R134a yourself and at least get a temporary fix if the problem is a small leak. In my old car I had an ac leak 2 summers ago, a can of r134a would fix ac for a few weeks. You can find a youtube video showing how to do it, if you don't know how. Its real easy to do even if you are car ignorant. My 19 year old daughter was able to do it.

Tinting will help, you can even have someone come to you house or work and do the tinting. Do not attempt to do the tint youself, it will end up looking crappy and bubbly and it is frustrating. I helped my cousin about 20 years ago it did not end up looking good at all

Another reason to get a professional job is Florida has laws regarding permissible tinting.

Florida 2015/2016 Tint Laws

And it's more likely that a professional will do the job correctly.

BTW - depending on the age of the car - what it's worth - what repair is necessary - what it costs - etc. - it may be time to look into getting a new car. A/C repairs are often expensive - and not worth doing. Robyn

Thanks for the comments.

I did look into diy tinting... it is super cheap but I am afraid of ruining it. I am gonna try to use that spray coolant and see how long it will last me... Do you guys have any idea how much is window tinting?

Park in shade. Get A/C in car fixed as soon as you can. Yes, it will be hot in the car.

Most of the time temps are 90-ish high in summer....but that can be high 90s in sun on hot days. Many days in 80's also; not all days are hotter than other parts of the country.

I had my AC broken one summer and it was basically miserable. I would get home drenched every day and had to keep a towel on my seat to keep from burning myself. You won't be able to tint the front windows of your car, so tinting really isn't going to help you as a driver. It's far better just to get the AC fixed if you can.
