Dont many Floridians already joke that it's more like Southern Georgia than being a part of Florida?

Yeah, and many people from Jacksonville and other areas in the northern part of the state joke that the rest of the state is more like New York, Michigan, Cuba or Israel, depending on where in the state you're referring to.

If Georgia took Jacksonville, the state of Florida would be a reliably blue state in elections. IMO, it feels like it belongs to Georgia more than it does to Florida.

I bet the people of Jacksonville wouldn't like paying those Georgia state income taxes.

Some parts of deep southeast Georgia around Kingsland and St Marys are already becoming exurbs of greater Jacksonville. In fact, Camden County is now even a part of Jacksonville's CSA.

I didn't know of too many people here before I moved here, so I was surprised to find out that many of the natives have very thick accents. My step brothers are from Georgia and had similar sounding accents to some of the locals here. It makes sense though, because of the close proximity to the Georgia state line. But it's just something I never really thought of before I got here.

Jacksonville has always been in Florida.. Just because it is not Miami or overrun with transplants from other places does not make it any less Florida than Key West, Orlando or Miami.

I have always said Jax was on the wrong side of the state line.

I remember and interview of Larry the Cable guy early in his career by the radio shock jocks Opie and Anthony. Asking where he was born he said Nebraska. They responded in disbelief because of his country accent. He said that was where he was born but he was raised in Florida and again, they said people don't talk like that in Florida, and he said, They do in North and Central Florida.
