Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has had a good experience with a public elementary school in Jacksonville for special education services? We're flexible on location (Jacksonville, Orange Park, Ponte Vedra). We're moving soon with a 3 year old that is considered high functioning on the autism spectrum. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

We live in Ponte Vedra Beach and have a neighbor whose daughter has cerebral palsy. They moved here last year and researched/interviewed tons of schools in both Duval and St Johns county and ultimately chose Ocean Palms Elementary in PVB. They felt that OPE offered the best special ed services.

May want to read through this post:

A number of families with special needs children think particularly well of Ocean Park Elementary. If your three year old is coming to St. Johns county with an IEP from another school district, then he/she will be enrolled in the inclusion VPK (pre-k) offered by the St. Johns schools. OP has an excellent program and at least at the VPK level, VRA (Valley Ridge Academy) is also excellent.

Are you talking about Ocean Palms in PVB or is there another school called Ocean Park elsewhere?
