I hope the next mayor is a liberal, progressive woman....they get things done! They move cities from 10 years behind the times and push them 10 years ahead.

I have seen it in multiple places now, women make great mayors.

Good point, but I wouldnt care if man/woman as long as they get the city moving in the right direction, spend tax money wisely, and actually care about there job and the city. Put the city first and that in turn helps us all.

I was living in Tampa when they elected Pam Iorio mayor. She really shook things up, and started a lot of new directions for the downtown. She is still mayor.

Fat chance of that happening (woman, maybe, but liberal? No way). Besides, I wouldn't wish that on Jacksonville.

Right, Peyton is in his second term (4 yr term). Peyton can't run again, and I doubt Delaney would even want to, he's doing a lot for UNF.

Yes, I heard Jacksonville was the ONLY city in the entire state who voted against it.

Never going to happen. Not until all the conservatives die or move. There would have to be a huge surge of liberals moving to the area (of voting age) to have that happen anytime soon. Maybe some of the other council folks could get that ball rolling.

I don't think we need to go far out liberal here, but a nicer mix would be nice.

There was one other county that voted against the proposal, can't remember which county though.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I would say a 4. John Delany was a way better mayor and got a lot of new things in Jax. I mean its a long list of stuff....It jusy sucks there wasn't a gas price issue when Hazouri was coming out because Delaney would have added more than 2 stations to the Skyway System. Peyton, just seems like he is going through the motions. Jax is the same place it is when Peytons first term started. A mayor should have a legacy and after 8 year Peyton lacks.
