Hold on to your hats, fans. The Suns will now be known as the Jumbo Shrimp. I kid you not.

Yeah, I remember when we went to Jacksonville Suns games. It's been over 2 decades ago since we watched the game, but I didn't like it at all. It was too boring.

Honestly wondered if 11/2 was the new April Fools Day when I read this headline this morning.

Maybe the Sun didn't renew the license to use its name. That's the only reasonable explanation for this.

It's usually about money. Maybe a new name means increased merchandise sales, at least for the first few years.

Jacksonville as a city is too big for a name like that. Leave that cartoony stuff to the smaller towns in the league. 54 Years and 7 Championships worth of history?? This sounds like he doesnt respect the established fan base. Jacksonville was always top of the league in attendance and Jacksonville and Birmingham were the Yankees-RedSox of the league for a long time. Why do this?

There's another thread about the Jumbo Shrimp and I posted there how ridiculous this new name is and really how embarrassing. Exactly OnyxStation, it is cartoony.

The new owner seems like a greedy carpet bagging d-bag and I can assure you I won't be attending one game while this tool is owner

We have a weekend package and we'll still go cause my wife likes to go. (If it was up to me I'd only go 5 or 6 times a year). But I have 3 Jax Suns polo shirts. Always looked to see if there was a nice one at a decent price in my size.

But no more. I'll never buy any merchandise with that name.
