Is that so?

It reminds me of the person always complaining at work....if you don't like it then leave, no one is holding you here, in fact please leave so it will be one less car on the road.

How profound.

If comparing Jacksonville to the rest of Florida, I'd say it doesn't have that much to have an inferiority complex about, even though it's the smallest of the "Big 4". It's also:

-The most affordable
-The most historic (Many Sun Belt Metros would want a place like St. Augustine or Amelia Island in their area).
-Probably has the easiest access to beaches for avg. resident within metro, ON AVG (this assumes that the average Miami or Tampa person has a longer drive, when accounting for traffic/location, than Jax residents do).
-The best location (as it allows one to see many of Florida's best attractions within a few hours drive, but yet also see some of the rest of country and it's scenery, for example, one could get up in AM, drive from Jax, and be at 4,000 ft. mountains by lunchtime. Atlanta, which is the closest thing the southeastern US has to a northern style city in terms of amenities and culture, is an hour closer than that, and there's also access to some more of America's most historic cities, in even less time than that (Savannah and Charleston)
-Probably has a slower pace of living than the other 3, along with less overall traffic.
-Jacksonville Beach has the most moderate weather in the state of Florida, IMO. Not a single month has an average high of 90 degrees, and 8 months have a significant portion of time where it is warmer than 60 and cooler than 80. I believe it also has the highest year round wind speed. For Florida residents, like myself, who can't stand the heat, but want to be in FL still, whether for family or anything else, Jacksonville Beach seems like an ideal compromise.

You are joking right ???

There is nothing about Atlanta that is comparable to a "northern style city in terms of amenities and culture"

If there is please explain.

Obviously, Atlanta isn't exactly going to feel like Philadelphia or NYC. But my point is that overall, when you combine the surrounding scenery, cultural institutions, historic infrastructure (i.e. Marietta has New England style square), airport/MARTA, high foreign born population, and neighborhoods (Little 5 Points, Midtown, Decatur Square), it's the place where someone from say Wicker Park, or Center City Philly, or Cambridge might feel most at home.

Back to Jax, the weather along the coast esp is an advantage. 3 months of "winter" where average high is in mid 60s and occasional stretches where a light jacket is needed are refreshing, and then everything is moved back. It's San Diego-esque for 5 months in spring/fall, and then even in the summer, it only on avg gets about like Sept or May in other parts of the state....

More like 6 months of summer heat with high humidity levels and 5 months of marginally cooler weather followed (if you're lucky) by about 4 weeks in which a coat is needed.

No offense, but it seems as if you are impossible to please based on your comments. Realistically it's a few degrees warmer inland (I said beaches) but the same general current holds true and is even more true for Jacksonville Beach which is what was originally stated. Those temperatures you posted are still cooler than more southerly parts of the state, and there is little need for anything more than maybe a light sweater, if that on a 64 degree day IMO. It sounds as if literally the only climate in this country you wouldn't describe as HORRIBLE would be the SoCal coast though who knows that may even be too cold for your standards haha
