I really haven't found any chains that I think are outstanding. I think smoked BBQ really needs a grill master who loves each and every rack or butt that he/she puts into the smoker, and tends to it all night (well just kidding, but I have known some joints that have their smokers going all night long for brisket)

Ahh, the smell of hickory smoked ribs, or oak, or whatever wood floats your boat.

Bono's is OK, but to BBQ snobs like me, it's definitely a notch below!

Sonny's is an affront to the BBQ world!

Have any of you been to Bull's BBQ off Baymeadows? If so, what do you think of it?

I have eaten there. I'd put it a notch above Woody's. The people are sure nice though.

I agree- theres nothing like some good carolina style bbq. You gotta get the pulled pork sandwich with the vinegar based sauce and coleslaw on it... now im hungry

Oh, yes, I thought it goes without saying that the slaw goes ON the sandwich!!!! And it can't be any fancy, schmancy bun either- must be the whitest of white garbage bread, unseeded, of course.

Sonny's is to BBQ what McDonalds is to burgers: you can eat it, but it's WAY below average.

We can disagree as to Memphis, Texas, etc. but you're right on. Gotta be a local grill master who loves the trade.

Ok, just thought of another Burma Shave ad for Jacksonville:

If you're craving barbeque
give Jacksonville a try
there's chains out the wazoo
and local places to stop by
... Jacksonville
