One of my favs is actually south of St. Augustine @ Matanzas Inlet. We would launch the boat in Vilano (great place to launch btw), and toodle down to the inlet. It's sand on both sides, and drops off deeply, so big honkers can actually moor there hop out onto the sand. Way cool place.

Theres some serious hardware in and around Jax.

Decent performance boating scene. Not to Mention a top level poker run held in June... 150+ boats.

The Glen is a nice spot. There are 2 hooters on the water with dockage about 15 miles apart. Downtown has the landing. Whiteys fish camp, Clarks Fish camp and of course Outback Crabshack....

Black creek will see some people rafting up and as well as the sand bar south of Palatka.

Also you can run the ditch down to St. Agustine. Conch House is good , city marina and then walk to AIA Alehouse..... and of sourse the shopping.

I used to live in the area and will be moving back down in AUg when our house is built.... I'll be glad to give advice and or meet up on the water to show you around.... I'm always looking for a reason to put the boat in the water....... let me know when you get in town....lots of boatin to do!

I know every inch of water in the area.... we have a 22' Donzi Classic.

RR

What about sailing? Any of my fellow C-D members sail in the Jax area?

There's a big sailboat club in Jax, called the Rudder Club right at the base of the Buckman Bridge. I believe they are the sponsors, or the organizers, of the yearly Mug Race on the St John's River.
