I have a house on a smallish lot that I'd like to expand to the side by a couple of feet, but I can't seem to find anywhere where Jacksonville / Duval county regulations are for how large a side yard needs to be. Does anyone have a link they can point me to or information regarding this?

My GoogleFu is failing me as it keeps bringing up links to Municipal Code enforcement (which mentions nothing about how large the side yards need to be).

It sounds like what you're looking for is known as a building setback or a building restriction line. Search the Municode for that, and it should get you closer to the answer you're seeking. From what I recall, for a residential lot, it's anywhere from 5-10 feet, but it depends on that actual zoning for your property.
