You could say that about any city and any state. There are people who love the area they live in. You see something wrong w/ people being happy where they live? Odd.

Well, have to take "the good with the bad". Northern Colorado, aka Front Range, is beautiful in the summer months. Winters can be/are pretty bad at times with cold and snow, but that comes with the region Colorado is in. There are lots and lots of people in the Rocky Mountain States that would never give it a thought to move to anywhere in Florida, yet Florida sure has it's semi-high population. It does get hot here, but the added on humidity can be a killer and nobody necessarily knows what direction a Tropical Storm or Hurricane will head.

This isn't "trash talk" by no means, just the plain truth about the state. Florida is fine, even great, for some, but for others, those that have lived here and moved back up north (to any northern state not just the eastern coastal states), Florida just wasn't right for them.

This is true. No matter how expensive an area can be, no matter the weather, there are those that do think the city/state they are in is Utopia. Buffalo, NY is a refrigerator in the winter, yet people stay and love it there, as well as Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota and others. Funny how people in those states don't think very highly of Florida and visa/versa.

Something tells me when you finally...............FINALLY....................y ears down the road from now decide to move back to Colorado, you'll be on the Colorado City-Data boards saying how great Florida was and that you'll be moving back here. And then that will be the basis of 95% of your messages for the next ten years, as has been the case here.

Really, man....pick a new topic, any topic......anything at all, just no more posts about you moving back and how much you dislike this area. It's a broken record 1,000 times over.

Buffalo is a refrigerator in the summer too . The old joke goes "Buffalo has 2 seasons, Winter and the 4th of July"

I agree. I've been here posting for a decade and have seen this happen a lot....in this poster's situation, seems like he can't make up his mind.

I mean I grew up in FL had never lived in any other state. Hell before I moved out I had only visited three other states (GA, TN and TX). I had wanted to move out because I was sick and tired of Florida, especially Miami. Sick of the hot weather, the lack of seasons, sick of the same old same old. I moved to Texas first because I was in a relationship with a Texan. I ended up liking Texas but not to settle down in. Eventually I moved up to the Midwest and this is where I'll stay put. The Upper Midwest is America's best kept secret, imo. Tell people not to move here, its "freezing til June"

I can understand why those who love Florida, love Florida. Its not for me, though. The beaches are the best in the continental US, but that's what summer vacation is for. Now I love the beach but by September I'm bored of it. When fall comes I don't wanna see 80 degrees anymore I want 60s, 50s, 40s, red maple leaves, fresh ripe apples and bonfires. Florida is just too hot for long and people complain about weather that is honestly nice and cool, as if it was super cold.

Just went out to my car for lunch....damn it's cold....and the wind!

Guess I won't be going for a long walk.

You like this, have at it man, plenty more where this came from! Cold is going to be here until April.

Seriously, I know where you are coming from. When I lived in Miami, I sometimes came back here during the autumn, and I was a little jealous of people wearing sweaters, the crisp cool air, and all of the orange and red leaves. It is a great time of the year.

My issue is the disruption. I'm really into outdoor activity, and not into winter sports. In Florida you do give up some things weather wise, but you gain some continuity. And it does get hot. The good news is that in the summer you can take the kids somewhere else, since they are out of school. Up north, you can't leave in the winter because the kids are in school.

But I understand. Most of the people around me would never consider leaving Illinois.

Then there is the state tax thing.....Illinois is broke, and they go after business owners, it's like having Tony Soprano on you....
