I moved to Texas first because I was in a relationship with a Texan. I ended up liking Texas but not to settle down in. Eventually I moved up to the Midwest and this is where I'll stay put. The Upper Midwest is America's best kept secret, imo. Tell people not to move here, its "freezing til June"

I can understand why those who love Florida, love Florida. Its not for me, though. The beaches are the best in the continental US, but that's what summer vacation is for. Now I love the beach but by September I'm bored of it. When fall comes I don't wanna see 80 degrees anymore I want 60s, 50s, 40s, red maple leaves, fresh ripe apples and bonfires. Florida is just too hot for long and people complain about weather that is honestly nice and cool, as if it was super cold.
Florida is more of a place for a vacation, to go to the beach, Disney, Miami, etc. I loved living in Jacksonville for 4 years, but that was enough for me. I'm a lot happier living in the Atlanta area. I prefer the seasons and being able to hike in the mountains and go home within the same day. Plus there's a lot more to do in the city.

When I lived in JAX a lot of people told me that Atlanta sucks, has lots of crime, bad traffic, behind the times, etc. while Florida is perfect.

I don't know about the rest of you but I **HIGHLY** value the opinion of someone who has left the city for another only to come back on the previous city's message boards to bash it.

AGAIN.........I don't think anyone here is really bashing Florida. Some move here, no matter where "here" is, don't end up liking it and move out. It just seems like those that live in Florida, and love it here, simply can't understand WHY anyone would want to leave. Actually, "leaving" is very understandable, in that, like some other States, Florida just isn't for everyone.

Sounds familiar, eh?

In terms of not understanding why someone would not love Florida that couldn't be further from the truth. I can absolutely understand why certain people would not enjoy this part of the U.S. If you follow my posts here you'll see that I don't always claim this is a perfect area, not by a long shot. And of course comparing downtown Atlanta to downtown Jax there is no comparison whatsoever, they're not even on the same planet. I lived in a city for over 30 years and I don't go to their message boards telling everyone how great NE FL is, it's just really odd behavior to me.
