I'm a Jacksonville native living in Las Vegas, so I can reasonably compare the two. Neither Nevada nor Florida has a state income tax. Temps of 100 degrees in Nevada are nothing, in Florida they are borderline oppressive because of the humidity (I tell people that I am from a part of the world where mildew grows on the outside of your house). Florida of course has beaches - but also a wide variety of insects that can make life miserable outside, especially in the evening and at night when the gnats and mosquitoes come out. Salaries are generally far lower in the south than they are out west. Cost of living is lower in Florida (depending upon location), but not enough so to offset the difference in salaries. I once considered returning, but the pay was a deal killer. I would have had a substantial drop in standard of living.

Moving to Jax from Vegas in 2 months.

Vegas got too expensive.

Vegas summers are wayyy worse than Florida summers. Humidity isn’t bad when you have a breeze. Being in an oven sucks.
