An HOA can deny a felon/sex offender from purchasing a home in the community however more likely the person in question was already living there and cannot be removed as a property owner.

Yeah, that would open up the HOA to a serious civil rights lawsuit. No one checked our backgrounds when we bought our home and I suspect the cost to do so with each and every homeowner in these neighborhoods would be exorbitant.

I think the more expensive the houses are in the community the less likely a sex offender will move in. So according the info below you will have to check with the HOA.

I am sorry to find this post and almost laugh, but all of you realize that the reality is they live everywhere, right? I mean all the offenders list does is tell you WHO HAS BEEN CAUGHT! Many predators go decades without getting caught and it's the same as a background check - it is only helpful if the person has a record! My husband was a cop and I can tell you, if you are looking for a guarantee, you're lying to yourself. These days, predators live right under our noses and while we do not want to accept this, the sooner we realize there are no perfect places, the faster we can help our children with honest conversation and teach them how to be prepared God forbid....it is a sick world and as much as my reply here may make you mad, fact is you likely know it is the truth.
