Hey Jax residents - I'm on here asking for a friend who is looking to relocate to your area. She is interested in either Jax Bch, Atlantic Bch, Neptune Bch, or Ponte Vedra Bch. I used to live there a long time ago but I don't know how much it has changed. She really wants to be within a few blocks of the beach but is concerned all the neighborhoods are going to be partying college kids - this is a big concern for her because she is hypersensitive to sound and her home being a quiet haven is of the upmost importance. Do you think that would be a possibility in those areas? Which are the loudest/quietest? Also, she is on a budget and hoping to rent something for under $1000/month. Thanks for your suggestions!

P.S. I was thinking as long as she rented a place west of 3rd street she might be in a quieter neighborhood? Also, if I remember correctly the types of bungalos and such that were within the first block or two right by the beach seemed to be older structures that weren't all that greatly insulated against sounds from neighbors, etc. Correct me if I'm wrong! I know Atlantic Blvd and Beach Blvd can get trafficky, but as long as there is a grocery store somewhere off of 3rd, then why would she ever have to go over the ditch, am I right? She's just looking for simple, quiet living with a beach close by.

going to be tough IMO. Those same college people partying all night are also wanting to pay 1000 a month or less and/or have room mates splitting the cost living near the beach. I would guess that someone wanting to have a picky selection of choosing a quiet area blocks from the beach without noise, in a nice quiet area anywhere from Atl each to St Aug would cost at least twice or three times that.

Quiet being the utmost importance I would say Atlantic Beach a few blocks north of Atlantic Blvd, South Jax, and Ponte Vedra (limited beach access within walking distance and most expensive)

If you search real hard and make visits etc maybe something will pop up and be perfect but in that price range I would say go west away from the beach.

Yeah, I was thinking Atlantic Beach might be best also. She's willing to live up to 10 blocks west of the beach too, if that helps - those residential neighborhoods are more families and less college students right? And for the record, she will have some help with rent from her partner. Are there any apartments even west of 3rd street or is it all houses?

Thanks again, any and all advice is much appreciated.

I don't think there are any decent apartments in Atl Beach but I could be wrong. Jax beach and Ponte Vedra have some apartments.

Yes, which means screaming children. She should really try to do some research in person before choosing a place, it's a real gamble in that area otherwise.

Yes, yes, the Screaming Children of Atlantic Beach. I took a drive through there this afternoon, and there they were, screaming at every intersection for blocks and blocks. Something must be done about this.

I think Atlantic is nice and appears quiet, Neptune also nice. Not sure about rental prices but these are nice areas worthy of research into how to find an affordable place. There is a lot of traffic out on the main roads which is the main drawback in my opinion. Otherwise seems like a good area.

I am a little confused... are you kind of being sarcastic or are there really a lot of screaming children in the area for real? (No such thing as a dumb question, right? I just want to know the truth! Thanks!)
