We live in Charleston SC (Mt Pleasant) and would love to be able to move to St. Augustine. Warmer in the winter, not so much traffic, better shopping, closer cities with things to do. And no state income tax.
Well at least we’re not living in NJ anymore! Michael BC maybe we should switch places!

Lol I was working for Boeing up there for 5 years. I lived in Rivertowne CC in Mt P. I liked up there for the fact that I do black water fossil diving so the Cooper and Edisto rivers were my playgrounds.

St Augustine is nice and it is geared as a tourist town but as a resident, I have done all the sites multiple times. Family or friends come to visit and of course they want to see the sites and guess who takes them.....lol it's ok though, I keep my boat in a marina and get out often to fish so it isn't all that bad.

That's how we are starting to feel about Charleston . Been there, done that. ( Rivertowne CC is a very nice area by the way.)
We are just below the IOP connector and have great access to the beach. But living here, our radius is to the beach at IOP or Sullivan's, Downtown and Mt. Pleasant.
Tanger outlets are just OK. Northwoods Mall in North Charleston is shady, so we don't go there. And traffic in, around and out of Mt. Pleasant can get heavy.
We are starting to look at St. Augustine as an alternative, since the Jacksonville metro is a much larger area with what looks to be better winter weather. (Not sure if the temp difference is noticeable though.)
One thing I do agree .. would rather be living in either place than the northeast.
(Fossil diving sounds great. I hear there are a lot of interesting artifacts to be found in those rivers.)
