My folks are Ormond natives and the military moved us all around the country but we always came back to N FL when we could. Now they live there and I've always wanted to make this beautiful place (old town city st Augustine in particular) my home! I am now in a position to make this a reality (I work remotely as an art director with NY clients and have some savings) and have just made the move from Brooklyn to make that happen! EEeee!!!! (Headed down this week!!) BUT the more I find out re flooding etc the more I think it may be a bad move to put money into property there. I guess it's the 'one thing or the other' no matter where you live. Difficult trying to decide if the benefits outweigh the negatives here... but as of now I'm still leaning towards the benefits - there sure is a lot to love - beaches / weather / nightlife... I guess my question is -- do the folks living here recommend purchasing property in Lincolnville / North city?? What are the benefits to both?? What are your thoughts on the risk?? Would a (young) 37 year old single woman (no kids) 'fit in' here? I love the outdoors - the ocean - arts - and city life! Hoping to be able to be dating as well (a partner would be nice!!) I like to be able to walk / bike to restaurants / yoga / coffeeshops / bars without having to rely on a car... Are there other places I could consider in Jacksonville etc? St Augustine is just so darn charming -- Thanks in advance for your thoughts!!

St Augustine is awesome but I do not know it well enough to advise.

Re: Jacksonville, you could consider Riverside, San Marco or Atlantic/Neptune Beach. Also checkout Avondale, Springfield, and Murray Hill. Obviously your concept of "city life" will have to be very different than it has been though.

Lincolnville or St Augustine Shores are all bike able to the downtown though expensive and also exposed to water floods

Anywhere within walking distance of George Street would be great. There are tourists there most all year round but I think that adds to the charm. There is a shuttle you can get to the beach and the Sunshine Bus goes to a lot of places, you just need to find there stops. Anywhere else and you will need a car like most places though.
