Well, three days after the "cease-fire" thing was announced, yesterday there was a murder. So much for "cease-fire".

And, as far as people from Jacksonville doing crimes in other cities, that has been well documented.

The old saying here is, "if it's not in my backyard or affecting me or my family, I don't care who kills who here."

Election time is coming up. The signs for the existing Mayor and Sheriff state "Jacksonville is a safer city now" under their names. If a brand new Mayor and/or Sheriff is elected, will they say the same campaign stuff that Curry and Williams did....…"We will make Jacksonville a safer place to live". Which hasn't happened, but.
They better start caring because once the same Northside/NW and Westside criminal element starts infecting the Southside, what are they gonna do? What affects one or two parts of the city, affects the entire city.

What most of you fail to realize is there have been murders and shootings on the Southside. Southside is getting a taste of the violence that plagues Northside and NW Jacksonville. Many of the shootings and murders that take place in Jacksonville stem from personal vendettas, drug deals gone bad and anything associated with ghetto life.

Yes, there has been some major crime here on the Southside, but very few people care, think or talk about it.

The growth in the metro is in St. John's county. I think a lot of people are avoiding Jacksonville.

I agree, it is reflected in property prices.

Don’t know about that! There are two new apartment complexes being built right now on the Southside, 3 or 4 story ones. One across from Chase Bank Office building at Deerwood, just south of Butler. The other is just south of Wild Wings and Tinsetown Theatres. These two complexes can house a lot of people.

As of this time, the only areas of high crime in the Southside are Spring Park, Pine Forest, Killarney Shores, Brackridge and parts of the Southbank, San Jose and Englewood areas. Several other areas are just "okay." But the rest is all good.

Thinking of moving to Fernandina Beach from upstate New York. Any thoughts on the crime there? Is it safe?

Fernandina is about as safe as you get in the USA. Very little crime.

All the areas near the beaches are very low crime because housing is more expensive. The crime is where the cheap housing is for the most part.
