Even though Jacksonville is in North FL does it have a lot of Carribean restaurants. It would be a nice change since I haven't been to a Jamaican restaurant since I was in NYC. There is none here in my little town in NC.

There are several Dominican places and all good. There's one in Five Points and one (The Mafongo?) close to Timuacnan (can't remember spelling). Sorry!

I used to eat at Island Tropics on Main St. I wouldn't call it the best but it was pretty good. And hard to not like oxtail or curry goat anyway. I wasn't as big a fan of their jerk chicken. Fish was decent. Can you tell I used to go there often? There are a few other places with decent reviews on yelp so you could try them out too.

Is this the same place that is or was called Sunrise Bakery? I used to eat their jerk chicken all the time and thought it was awesome. They had oxtail and other stuff and all was pretty good. Not the best neighborhood but it was worth the trip.

No looks like Sunrise Bakery is a different place, but pretty good too. Island Tropics is maybe a mile south of there.
