Just because you know how to sell car bumpers that does not make you an expert on running an NFL franchise.

So word leaked out today that Coughlin intended to retire at the end of the season anyway. Khan knew this, but fired him anyway. Poor form on Shad's part. Very poor.

While people want to throw Tom under the bus for his old school style and for what the NFLPA said about players going to Jax (screw them by the way and why not file a defamation suit against them for using such language?), he has arguable done more foe this community than Shad has. Tom has his Jay Fund which is an honorable charity that brings out the best in all of us. Shad gave us pools and big scoreboards.

Shad has also slammed the community for not having "proper 5 star lodging" for when business associated come to town. His solution? Build a "destination" in a parking lot that "requires" the Hart Bridge ramps to be town down. Huh?

His designs are to groom his son to take over the team (whom we know very little about) and quite probably, move it somewhere else.

Oh yeah, Caldwell should have been shown the door first.

Heard about that "leak" but there's no thought process behind it. Why would Coughlin retire and forgo his guaranteed salary for 2020 and 2021 (trio of Coughlin, Caldwell and Marrone were all given extensions through 2021 after the 2017 run to the AFC Championship). These 3 are all waiting to be fired so they can collect the remainder of their contracts.

Shad actually did Tom a favor.

I can't fault Khan for the timing. In fact, that's been probably his best decision for this franchise in several years. You just can't have that kind of stench hovering over the team, even if Coughlin had decided to retire. Had to be addressed and addressed quickly as they are likely already in the works to try and work on free agent deals for the offseason. Coughlin does do a lot of things outside of football, but I imagine those will continue and Coughlin will continue to call Jacksonville home. He's 73 and not going anywhere.

But I will agree that some of his other decisions surrounding this team are head-scratchers. I don't think this is rocket science here, the Jaguars need a few things to really ramp up this team:

1) New staff with an emphasis on offense. Drafting well wouldn't hurt either. NO MORE TAVEN BRYAN'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2) An actual stadium with a retractable roof, ala the Dolphins. Playing in Jacksonville in September/October is miserable, so is sitting in the stands when you're shoulder to shoulder with thousands of other people and it's 88 degrees with 90% humidity. Would be ideal if they had the ability to open up the roof for games in November/December as the weather here is typically ideal for football then.
3) Make the stadium and surrounding areas a destination. As it stands, the area surrounding TIAA Bank Field is pretty run down and you're hard pressed to find any bars/restaurants in the immediate area. The few that are there are not great and frankly, it's not an area where families can feel totally safe at night either.

If they're going to build a new stadium, how about moving it elsewhere? Near the Town Center? How cool would that be to be able to attend a Jags game and then hop on a short shuttle ride to the Town Center to eat/drink afterwards? I know logistically it would be a nightmare but just thinking out loud here for new/fresh ideas.

Since the NFLPA had put word out that the Jaguars are responsible for a quarter of the grievances league-wide and it is known that Coughlin is the source of the problems, best to resolve this ASAP before the free agency period begins.

Tom hurt sissy-boy-millionaires feelings, boo hoo hoo. Caldwell is the common denominator, in their crappy players. Tom is a proven winner, on and off the field.

Khan has big ideas for the stadium which has said will soon need renovation.

I hope the Jaguars never leave. The city of Jax will be on the hook for a state of the art stadium with pools and the largest scoreboards in the NFL. Not something you can fully utilize.

So we will have the #9 pick and the #20 pick in the 2020 NFL draft after yesterday's win. I must say, I was totally pulling for the Jaguars yesterday, even though I knew a win would push them back in the draft order a bit. It was just nice to see everything come together for the first time.....well.....this season! Offense/defense/special teams all came to play. Will be interesting how the offseason plays out with guys like Ngakoue and of course the coaching staff.

Yesterday's win was worth the drop in draft order. The psychological lift it gave us all was worth it.

Do we think the current coaching staff is going to remain on board for 2020?

The fact that Khan has waited until today to meet with both Marrone and Caldwell suggests to me that he plans on retaining them. Why else would he essentially waste a full day for this meeting if he knew he was going to terminate both? Marrone's tone has changed quite a bit in just the last week as well. For many weeks he was very apologetic about the failure of the organization and after Sunday's win he changed his tune by saying how much he loves this organization, wants to stay, etc.

Jeff Prosser on 1010XL put it best "How can anyone justify keeping a guy (Caldwell) who has had double digit loss seasons in 6 of his last 7 season?"
