Extremely nice neighborhood, yet extremely far away from everything. If you work from home or work nearby (rare) it would be a good option. Otherwise plan on driving long distances for everything.

Rivertown is built on an earthquake fault line. Good chance it falls into the St. Johns River in a couple years, so make sure you research it fully first!

My issue with Rivertown was their sales people. We loved it when we first came to Jax, but time and again their sales people dropped the ball with us. Only being able to talk to the first one you talked to there was a major PITA, especially when they show up outside of normal hours only.

They totally voted themselves out of contention.

Pros are river front-ish, suburb but rural at the same time, quick backroad to St Aug, not tooooo far from Julington/Mandarin, best sunsets on the pier, great amenities, great range of prices, lots etc

cons - so far from most of things, Mattamy

Moved into RT in October after moving out of town/state for a few years. (have been keeping our eye on this place since 2006).
Had no issues with Mattamy as a builder or sales people (although we did have our agent involved since the beginning).
Build was very smooth. Great neighbors, great amenities.
Yes, it is far - about 8 miles from the corner of SR12 and Racetrack as well as 8 miles from 210/St. Johns Parkway.
I do work from home, but we would have moved here regardless. The one thing is - since I don't go 'to town' every day, when I do go to the store, I make sure I have a thorough list, since I can't "just pick it up tomorrow when I'm out."

Let me know if you have any other questions.

You sound like a typical NYer. (I was one once). As far as Rivertown goes, its just another development. Nowadays, you have to have a gimmick to differentiate yourself from the plethora of new communities. For example Beachwalk (Crystal Lagoon), Nocatee (Town Center, splash park(s)), Riverwalk (on the St Johns river and new amenity center on the water). Its up to you, not us, to determine which meets your needs. A visit here will clear things up quickly. Good luck.
