I was perusing the May/June issue of Florida Leisure and Travel recently. Within the issue, there is an article about 7 up and coming places to live in Florida. Not to my shock, Jacksonville was listed along with West Palm, Ft. Lauderdale, Sarasota, St. Pete, Ocala, and Gainseville.

What was shocking was one of the comments I read inside about Jacksonville. There is a direct quote from Doug Young a resident since 1983. In reference to living in the north and southbank areas of downtown, Mr. Young makes the following quoted statement: "There's really no need to get in a car."

What? No need for a car in the downtown? I guess Doug never buys groceries or goes to the movies or shops for clothing or goes to Target or eats ethnic food......I mean the list can go on and on about why you need to have a car to live downtown.

How much did they pay you to say this Doug Young?

what's more amazing to me is anyone could include gainsville on a list like that. gainsville is ok for what it is, a small college town, but other than that it is really nowheresville to me

Maybe Doug lives in the future?

I can see it getting that way in years to come (maybe not even that many years...we'll have to see), but I agree, I think you need a car.....maybe Doug has a motorcycle? A Vespa?
