Made a trip to Jacksonville on Saturday. Hung out in the mostly downtown area and it was filled with homeless people, and the likes. The city gave me a very slow vibe and could not wait to leave. Everything looked ran down. Outside of downtown it seemed like everything was in slow-motion, and there was nothing to do, I will not be returning.

That's about right. That's why I stay at the beaches and only go to Jacksonville for Jaguars games, Orsay and Costco.

Hate to say it but you may have been better served if you had asked where to stay or go before you came to the Jax area. Sorry to hear you had a sh***y time.

Isn't Jacksonville like almost 900 square miles?!? A shame that a city that BIG feels slow and like there's nothing to do.

Our downtown is atrocious. There is a much better vibe towards the Beaches. Next time visit the beaches area.

Maybe go to the FL_GA game when there isn't a pandemic

I don't know anything about Jacksonville, but in it's defense I will say that its tough to judge a city and its vibe in 2020 while business are closing and people are mostly staying home.

It's too bad, you should have gone a mile or two over to the 5 Points neighborhood. Downtown Jax has been struggling to revitalize for a number of different reasons, but there are more interesting parts of town elsewhere.

Five Points is tiny. My brother lives in JAX and if he didn't I'd never go there.

I am 36, gay and single.

Personally, I avoid the beaches as much as possible. It's just so congested and parking is challenging. A lot of pretentious young people, too. I'm not a beach person, either.

I prefer the city of Jax over the beaches. I agree that downtown is not an attractive area to visit. However, just west of downtown are the trendy areas of Riverside and Avondale, which have many good restaurants, bars and shops. I'm not even into those things either, but just saying.

I live in the area just north of Mandarin and love it. It's suburban, low key and very convenient with plenty of stores, restaurants and amenities.

Well, Death Valley is much bigger than that and there's not much to do there either.
