Years ago they were the best apartments on this side of town. Then as the apartments aged, things deteriorated. The newspaper records lots of incidents of crime in the area. I think there is some low income housing maybe one or two doors down. I wouldn't walk there at night and I wouldn't leave the sliding glass door ajar for some air. Also, a builder went in there to build housing but the city did not approve it due to the traffic problem on Baymeadows. The landscaping started to get neglected. I assume the builder will be back when those in office change and the market is better. The elementary and middle is rated A, and I believe the high school is rated F.

When choosing your apartment try to get one that is the furthest away from the vicinity of the convenience store. That might help. Hopefully other people can give some insight.

Hey Kat
If you want the Baymeadows area I would look on the other side of Southside more toward 9A
That would put you even closer to the elementary & middle school and there is suppose to be a new High School going up right across 9A from the other schools in 2 years.

Just found this info on our schools, you can look in to stats here:

Baymeadows is a good area, the only thing I would not like is the High School and the traffic in some parts.

thats why everyone is so excited about the new high school

with the elementary & middle both being A schools may help that one to also become a A school

I just moved here and was looking at that area and those apartments. A friend that lived here (JAX) for a year, suggested I live off of Hodges. He stated many apartments look nice, and some are, but there are some crime issues in that area. He lived at the Glades in particular. So I moved to the Links and I'm very happy about it. Although the price was higher than I wanted. I don't know anything about the schools in the area though.

I would have no problem sending my children to Wolfson.

I agree. If someone is interested in living off of Baymeadows, it is best to go to either of the far ends, but avoid the middle .

The East end Karla mentions above is very nice (East of the Southside Blvd intersection) and then the far West end is nice again (West of Phillips Hgwy - though it seems to be more houses there on that end, not as many apartments for rent).

I wouldn't live there, although when I was looking for apartments, those seemed to be the best value for the money, but I've heard numerous "horror stories" about all the crime there. No thanks.
