Have only lived in Jax since this past January and wife/I did visit here and drive around for 4 days before moving here. Follow what your friend in Arlington says......please! We live in a nice apartment on the southern end of Jax very close to I-95 and 295 and LOVE IT!! Our area code is 32256. It is one of the nicest areas in Jax. With kids, please choose the right area to live in!!

East 12th St in 32206 -

Isn't that Historic Springfield?

Am I losing my mind? I though I read good things about Springfield on here.

I know it's a transition neighborhood and that there are some rough areas mixed in with nice quiet neighborhoods. I'm originally from the South Bronx, NYC and currently live in the dung hole that is Philadelphia.

I am looking in the areas of Springfield from 8th st on south and from Silver st- Laura St to not anymore east of N Liberty st.

Does anyone have an opinion on this central area?

I'm following the market pretty closely - I work for a real estate developer and have an idea of what to look for... I think!

Maybe someone can clarify?

Sensei--if I'm reading correctly, I believe the original post is over 2 years old. I haven't moved to Jax yet (will be arriving in 2 weeks) so I can't advise about this area but my guess is that a lot could have happened to the neighborhood in two years. So statements made about that area in 07 may have been true at the time but might be quite different now. HTH.
