Hi There

I will be relocating from Phoenix to Jax within the next month or so. Id like to learn about any areas that are safe with good elementary schools. I'm a single mom with a 6 year old boy. My rent budget is about $1500 for a 2/2. Would prefer a gated community. My work site is located northwest (northside) of the city. Zip code 32220. Thanks in advance for all your comments and suggestions!!!

The good schools are on Jax Southside. You could consider Nassau County since you will work on the northside, but I'm not well versed on rentals there. I can tall you 1500/mo for a 2br/1ba (notice 1ba) in a gated community will be tough, but not necessarily impossible.

$1500 for a 2/2 would be hard up here in Nassau as well. If you had $1800 maybe.

I just did a quick look in our area and I can't believe how much the rentals have increased!!!

No wonder why people who work in Nassau are commuting from Camden.

Recession is just around the corner so I expect demand to slow as well as housing price reversal. It's been a great run!

You might find something in Orange Park for $1500 and the schools would be better. Go south side of Orange Park. Good luck.
Do not rent an apartment anywhere on the north side. Your child will not be in a good school zone.

Dang, I would expect to see that more in Duval or St Johns, not Nassau especially in Callahan and Hillard. Yulee and Fernandina Beach would make more sense.

I am not sure about Callahan and Hilliard.. they certainly wont find a "gated community" out there. A 2/2 might be possibly out that way.

Those areas would seem quite affordable but they're a bit out there especially Hillard.
