I'll DM you my agent's info, but I'll post some tidbits here:

Try calling Amica on your own, they don't work with agents. They'll probably come in on the high side, but they are an excellent insurer and it's easy to get a quote.

Tower Hill is good and should be writing, my agent will probably get you a Tower Hill quote.

Since you're out by the beach and your insurance might be quite high, you might also want to have him give you a quote with Florida family - I've used them on a difficult to insure property.

We've used State Farm for years and years, and have an excellent policy with low deductibles. But, we're also obviously west of the intercoastal. I can DM you the agent info if you like, he's downtown. We also have referred folks to JPPerry, who has also done well for some of our customers.

Yeah, I don't think they're writing, haven't been for a few years now as far as I know. Same for Allstate. I have family in Louisiana whose properties were wiped out by Katrina and I heard firsthand how State Farm and Allstate treated them and their community...not good .

State Farm wrote us a new policy about a year ago. They weren't writing new policies just 6 months before that when we moved here and they won't take you if you are very close the water, but if you are inland more than a few miles and have a roof less than 10 yrs old (told to me when we got our policy), they may be able to add you. We had Tower Hill before that and SF beat them by quite a bit.

There are rating systems out there about who pays and who doesn't (claims), and it's very eye-opening. Sometimes the companies that spend a lot on marketing and have a recognizable name are not the ones rated well for paying on their claims.

Default Homeowner's Insurance

Try Shaun at Pablo Beach Insurance - he said he can look at 10 different companies. Our best deal was with Tower Hill too. They were real helpful.

If you want to check out the florida companies that are writing in Duval county before talking with an agent, here is a good place to do it.

Best of luck to you......
