When is that week when there is tax free shopping in FL? In VA there is a weekend where they do it. By then; however, there are little choices left.

JC Penneys is giving to give their customers a discount that is equal to the tax. As my husband said, that's a 7% discount, but you could get a 40% discount at Kohls every week.

I never really saw a point in the no-tax holiday. It's only 7%, you can get better deals than that any time. Unfortunately, the government needs our sales tax money. One week without it is bad when you can't manage money to begin with.

If you have two, three children, saving 7% on top of the back-to-school sales the stores have really adds up to a nice savings.
But, I totally understand why the state is not doing it.
It was "hell" for retail stores to keep track of what was tax-exempt and what wasn't.
