I wonder if any have any suggestions or advice how I can get creative in finding a RN job. Beside going thru a new grad fellowship program, which at this time none is available in Jacksonville. I recently graduated and passed the board exam a month ago. But it seems there is no hospital in Jacksonville hiring new grads and not willing to invest in new grad. I don't understand how we are going to get that 1 year experience if there not willing to hire us.

My wife graduated just over a year ago and has been working as a RN for about a year now. The climate is different, as many medical facilities have hiring freezes for the time being. But here was her general experience:

She applied to St. Vincents, Shands, & Mayo.

St. Vincents was the most timely. Mayo was interested but took a long time to get back, set things up, and Shands said that they wouldn't be hiring any new Nurses for a while (a couple months later).

She got offers from both St. Vincets & Mayo, but St. Vincents was much closer to where we wanted to live so that's where she went.

The whole process took about1 1/2 months from first contact to first day of trainingn (partly due to scheduling conflicts)

I would move. I hear they are looking for RN's all over the country and there is a huge shortage. They are even offering $40K signon bonuses. Have you tried Atlanta or maybe Texas? I would look into it. This is a top job nowadays with exploding demand.
