Hey there -

I have friends coming into town and they'd like to go down the ichetucknee, but they'll be visiting around the first weekend in April. I've been down it in the summer, but not in the spring. Has anyone gone in the springtime? Is it too cold? I was thinking maybe canoeing instead of tubing.

Thanks and any nearby camping info would be great, too - haven't ever camped over there!

Well, the water should be same temperature it always is. What's more important is the outside air temperature, which should be in the mid- to high-70's. Canoeing might be a better option.

Love LOVE Ichetucknee, but never stay overnight because of the lack of camping facilities. Is close enough that driving home afterwards is nbd.

Have you considered Ginny Springs? Lots of info on the net about it. Have full facilities and you can take beer on the river if so inclined

Springs are always cold. I think year round it's around 65 degrees or so. They also have a springs you can swim at there with nature trails. I believe it's called blue springs or something like that. It's all nice, just very cold.
