I will be moving from New Jersey to Jax in June. I am a very experienced (17 years) legal secretary coming from large firms in New York and Los Angeles. Does anyone know of a good agency to work with, or better yet, a contact individual? I would appreciate any input. Thank you.

I think that if you do a search on Careerbuilder or Monster for the Jax area, popular employment agencies will be among the search results with the listings of jobs that they have available for the area. That should get you started or at least informed about the active employment agencies there. From one legal assistant to another: Good luck! Based on what I've heard about Jacksonville, you have chosen wisely.

You may want to contact Special Counsel- they specialize in law office staffing: http://www.hg.org/law-jobs.asp?actio...&state=Florida

Also, I googled jacksonville law firms and found two firms right away that you could contact. Not sure what your specialty is, but I know that Rogers Towers is big and diverse.

Rogers Towers, P.A. (Main Office)

The paper here- Times Union- jacksonville.com- would be good to check on Sundays.

Good luck!

Hey I'm also considering moving to Jacksonville this summer maybe at the end of June and I was just wondering how hard it was to find a job in Jacksonville. I've been everywhere Careerbuilder, Moster, Jaxjobs, and I haven't gotten any calls back. It is really discouraging b/c I would like to have a job secured before I just jump up and move out there. I need some kind of sercurity. I really need help can anyone please help me. I have a BS in Psychology and I minored in Management. I'm going to finish my MBA in Jacksonville. I have many years of secretary experience under my belt but I would like to get away from that I'm 24 and I want a career not just a job. Can anyone please help me???!!! I'm so desperate.

many people have said that they've had trouble landing a job from afar, consider making a visit to JAX and look for a job in person.

kort is right
sometime companies get "nervous" thinking the out of town person applying is expecting the company to provide a relo package.
Not sure where your coming from but I have seen some really great airfares to fly to jax

I'm from Arkansas. I'm going to come visit Jacksonville for about a week and I just wanted to have some interviews lined up before I came b/c I didn't want my visit to be in vain. I actually want to get somethings done while I'm there.

check out the classified job ads at www.jacksonville.com and try to schedule interviews when you're in town
