We are looking at relocating from the midwest to Jacksonville in the next few months and have seen a lot of houses for sale in these two areas. I have read a lot about other areas, but haven't seen these areas mentioned. Can anyone fill me in if these are areas to be considered or areas to be avoided?

A little about us to maybe help. My wife and I are in our 30's and are looking for a decent house with no HOA's and would like a yard that is at least 10'000 sq. ft. for the dogs and storage. Looking for a home that is 2 bed/3 bath. We'd like to be close to shopping and food and live in a neighborhood that is safe to walk the dogs in. Any information on these areas or any areas that might fit what we're looking for would be greatly appreciated. What would the commute be like to downtown(Shands) from this area?

Oakleaf planatation has everyyhing you asked for and commute to downtown is also no problme. Bit it has HOA and also CDD.

You can find some communities on Argyl with no CDD

I would choose Oakleaf since it is a larger development and there is more of a selection of different types of houses.

I have another question. Since so many places have HOA or CDD's, can anyone tell me how strict they are? I have a travel trailer we will need to store and was wondering if these areas will allow us to park it in our yard/driveway? I know it will vary by each area, but if anyone can answer for their neighborhood that would be great.

Thank you very much for the replies and links, they helped a lot. Now that I hear about CDD's, it's something else to think about. All of the links were very helpful. Thanks again for the qiuck replies.
