Is Jacksonville....'churchy'?

Meaning...is this a city similar to other southern cities where 'what church do you go to?' is a common question asked among strangers when they first meet?

I don't think I've ever been asked that question, except maybe once or twice, and I've lived here for 14+ years.

Get asked that sometimes but not in any annoying way.
We do have a lot of churches in town though.

Wow, looking the 'Similar Threads' section below, you've asked this question a few times. Trying to decide where you're least likely to get "beat up" for your lifestyle? :haha:

No. Not even when strangers come to my door with bible in hand.

It can be. First Baptist thinks it owns downtown Jax and has pretty much killed their nightlife, for example.

People also use religion as a means of trying to gain your trust, get your business and get INTO your business. There are some of the most hypocritical, sanctimonious people I have ever met down here. The religious ones really need to have a giant warning sign on them, they are hazardous to your health!

A lot more than in Orlando, since you asked that question in the Orlando forum too. But most of them are just sweet people, trying to get a conversation started. Unlike Orlando, thats for sure!

ALOT of the women here go to Bible Study regularly and talk about it. I haven't been asked which church we attend, though. Its more like, " I just came from Bible study" or "I met her in Bible Study" type of thing.
