I will be relocating my family from MA to the Orange Park area in August due to a job transfer. My children are 6 and 7 years old so an excellent elementary school is a priority for us. My job will be located on Kingsley Ave and I'm currently looking to rent a home in the Fleming Island area. Am I on the right track? This seems to be a great area from everything I've read so far. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Congratulations on your upcoming move! We are also moving to Fleming Island this Summer. My husband is being transferred to Orange Park. We decided on Fleming Island after a lot of research. Our main concern was schools and crime and it does seem as though Fleming Island is a good place with respect to both.

The elementary schools are good here in Fleming Island. My daughter goes to Thunderbolt Elementary, but heard Patterson Elementary was good, also.

You're on the right track. Fleming Island area would be a good choice.

An early welcome to FL!! From where in MA? I'm originally from the North Shore.

I just moved here 3 weeks ago from MD and love it. You are definitely making the right choice. I live at the Lighthouse apartments on Fleming Island. These are some of the nicest apartments I have ever seen and very cheap too... Although I did have my first run in with a palmetto bug over the weekend (My GF is still scared to leave the bedroom) that has been the only negative thus far...

I live in the Plantation and I'm a transplant from Rochester over 8 years ago. We love it. Welcome!
