And, they are hanging around my front and back door. I finally had to buy my own fogger to keep them at bay. The were rushing the doorway, so they got inside before I did.
I bought my second can of fogger this weekend, so as soon as they come back, I'm ready.

You will want to make sure you have no standing water around your property.

If you have fountains or birdbaths you can get Mosquito Dunks

I had one neighbor that used them in the Nature preserve behind their home that had standing water after all the rain. Each one covers 100 sq feet of area.

We can't spend any time outside anymore - even standing on our front stoop for two seconds to properly wave goodbye to someone means we become a meal - and the little buggers are fast to get in the door even if we rush that process.

Clay County is getting around to spraying thankfully (um, yes, I've been doing email communication with the DPW to do something!)

Walking my dog in the morning is like walking onto a battlefield - they are everywhere. I've been spraying my arms, my clothes, even my dog, to keep the little buggers at bay. Egad!!

All that rain we had a couple weeks ago has left a ton of standing water around...guess where mosquitoes breed.

I have never even seen a deerfly (deer fly?) until after that week it rained all-day every day. Those are worse than mosquitos and basically scare the poo out of me. I was walking my dog and we got swarmed.

Wow, we haven't had that kind of situation in our community.
We'll certainly have the occasional skeeter, but not swarms, and it does surprise me because we've had plenty of rain, the retention ponds are full.
The absolute worst, for me, was my first summer here, in 2007.
I'd walk the dog and clouds of mosquitoes would follow us; I'd scare the dog by trying to slap or clap the insects dead.

I don't know about other counties, but Clay has been doing battle and it's really made a huge difference in my neighborhood. Admittedly I'm not always a big fan of chemical pest controls, but there truly are times when it's warranted.

For Clay County residents, you can see the progress made here:
