Hello
I am relocating to Jacksonville, from India on 1 year project with BCBS.
I would like to get some info on where can i rent a 1 bedroom flat with good connectivity by bus to my office address, 4800 Deerwood Campus Pkwy, Jacksonville, FL - 32246.
I dont mind travelling 1 hour one way by bus. 15-20 mins walk is also not a problem.

I would prefer if the budget stays below $700.
Thanks
Nilay

The area where your office is located is new. Apartments around them will be out of that price range. In the less than $700.00 a month range is going to put you in an apartment with possibly the more undesirable renters. Every apartment along Southside Boulevard gets bad reviews for noise, no parking, and lousy management. There were some apartments along Beach Boulevard that would be cheap but the reviews are too bad to recommend any. You might want to check with a professional apartment finder place such as:

Greater Jax Apartment Finder
8659 Baypine Rd
Jacksonville, FL 32256-7577

Otherwise, I'd rent anywhere along Southside Boulevard or Baymeadows Road where the apartments are older but less expensive. You can't find reviews for some of these apartments because they have changed management and changed their names. Its a nice area, just old apartments. I looked up the rents on Southside, they are around $800.00 or more. One I found http://www.chaseoaksapartments.com/floorplan.php
has awful reviews but was in your price range.

Thanks Ryde41
I looked up the apartments that you had mentioned, the location was close to Deerwood and some were below $700.
I tried using Google maps and could not find any public transport to Deerwood, the closest place connected by Public transit was St. Johns City Center. The Bus Service was SS6 Beach Boulvd/ City Center. In this case I would not mind any descent place which is on the route of SS6 Bus Service that would drop me close to Deerwood.

Are there other Bus Services which come till Deerwood or somewhere in the radius of 1 mile. Basically I am looking for a place close to a Bus Stop. I dont mind travelling by Bus for long hours. This would give me more options, otherwise the apartments you gave are also good.

Thanks Nilay

i cannot speak from personal experience, but it's a commonly accepted fact that the public transportation in Jax is unreliable, and you shouldn't trust it to get to work on time everyday unless you have absolutely no other choice.

If you can't find an affordable place within walking distance and you arent gonna have a car, I'd recommend also looking in an area that would allow you to bike to work.

good luck.

The bus routes don't really go to that area. Most of the routes seem to go to downtown. You could maybe walk if you lived on Gate Parkway. This is a safe area and you can walk to shops and the mall. You'd be in a good location.
