Appreciate all your feedback, and the credit card idea was certainly a good one. Just thought I'd add that Affordable Granite (Mario) did not show up for the scheduled meeting with the contractor/former BBB mediator to discuss repairing the defects even after admitting his errors in workmanship -- even basic measurement procedures, etc., nor will he return any of the mediator's calls (by the way, we're paying for the mediator's time). So my husband has decided to leave him a message giving him 24 hours to respond and let him know it will be turned over to our attorney after that. We feel that although we should have known better than to be so trusting, at our age and experience, letting this go on will just allow Affordable to do this to others, and is no different than any other experience where one just turns their head and allows others to get hurt also -- we owe it to our community as well as ourselves. Other contractors have also asked that we do something as it gives everyone a bad name and makes potential customers suspicious of doing business. Any feedback on similar experience is appreciated. We do not like to get involved in negative activities (litigation), as we were raised in the generation where you did things with a handshake and took people at their word, and most people valued their own integrity and honor, but I don't know of any other way. I don't mean to make people wary of all businesses today, as there are still many with much self-respect that would not think twice of doing such a thing. Just be careful, do your research and don't fall for a nice sales pitch. The other contractors who were present during this incident all looked at this guy with disgust, expressed their feelings about doing dishonest business practices and how this affected every honest businessman out there today. The guy should really have been ashamed in the midst of his peers, but obviously has no shame at all. That is what surprises me most about the world today, to do something and not even be embarrassed or ashamed of shoddy workmanship or dishonesty.

I'm glad that you are following through on it. And so sorry that you were taken by them. I'm a long way from getting a granite counter top, but will remember their name when the topic is discussed.

Steve and his crew resurfaced our two bathtubs and the tile in one of them approximately two years ago. I love it. I had a slight problem with it after two years and called Steve. He was here within a day or two, problem solved. I still highly recommend both Steve and Miracle Method. I trust this company!

I'm just wondering if CindyTer the OP ever got any satisfaction from the company, Affordable Granite (Mario) or did she have to sue and how did it turn out.
It's kind of like watching one of the soaps on daytime TV and having to go without for awhile!
